Bloomin’ Beautiful: Egerton House Hotel Blossoms for RHS Chelsea Flower Show

The well-heeled clientele of this intimate Knightsbridge townhouse will feel right at home in their wellies this May, thanks to a whimsical garden created by Jane Wadham, whose floral fancies are favoured by the likes of Victoria Beckham and the organisers of the Chelsea Flower Show.

Swish past an extravagant cascade of pale purple wisteria framing the entryway’s brick columns and step into a lush interior Eden, where roses and foxglove strain their elegant necks above the parapet of mossy planters.

Owners may come along, too, of course–provided they don’t pester other patrons with unsolicited moist-nosed nuzzling.

Spot-less patrons who “canine” be bothered to russell up someone else’s terrier may choose to eschew the pup party and opt instead for The Egerton’s new Summer Garden Afternoon Tea. The fruit and floral-inspired menu includes Marigold Macaroons, Lavender Posset with Poppy Seed biscuit, Rosewater Chocolate Brownie, Summer Fruit Vanilla Tart, Blueberry Tower, and a Spinach, Blackcurrant and Edible Flowers cupcake, alongside savouries and scones. Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free, and Champagne (yes, please!) teas are also available.

If you want to be as well-watered as a rice patty, belly up for The Egerton’s Martini Masterclass. “A martini is not just a drink,” says bartender Sahbi Zguider. “It’s a journey.” The ultimate destination? A fantasy version of sun-infused English summer…whatever the weather.

At The Edgerton House Hotel, sweet treats bud from bare branches. Now that’s the kind of bush I want in my garden.

One last feel-good floral note: At the end of May, The Egerton’s interior garden will be donated to Thrive Battersea, which helps folks facing a variety of difficulties improve their physical and mental health through therapeutic gardening. That’s bloomin’ lovely.
